Black-Owned Business You Should Check Out

Last month I did a post on my favorite small business purchases of 2020 so far and not a single shop I listed was owned by a Black creator. This is 100% on me. I’d like to think that, for the most part, I am pretty intentional with where I spend my money, but there really isn’t an excuse for not being intentional about seeking out and supporting BIPOC-owned businesses. But things are changing around here, y’all. As the sign in the photo of the man in the wheelchair says, “I’m sorry I’m late, I had a lot to learn.” So here is a round-up of Black-owned businesses you should check out:

Black Butterfly Signs

This shop makes custom signs, blankets, and doormats that I think are just lovely. I have my eye on a doormat similar to the one below, maybe with the words “welcome, y’all” outside our front door. Can you imagine?

Mind The Cork

This Etsy shop has some of the cutest lil cork items. From the planters to the beautiful cardholders, the uniqueness of what this shop is selling is not like anything I have ever seen before.

Shine

I know a ton of friends who use apps for meditation or grounding purposes, but I had never heard of Shine before. Named the best of 2018 by Apple, this app includes meditations, personal affirmations, and gratitude journaling to help you become the best you possible.

ECOVIBE

Holy smokes holy smokes!! This Portland-owned home and clothing store focuses on the environment with sustainable and ethical practices and holds SO MANY little beauties to fill your home. They also donate 1% of all their online sales to the non-profit 1% For The Planet. Wow wow wow, could it get any better?

Beauty Bakerie

Started in 2011 by a single mother and breast cancer survivor, Beauty Bakerie is known for its vegan, non-toxic, cruelty-free, ain’t-going-no-where-no-smudge lip whips. They have a neat lil shade group matcher on the front page of the website that matches you with foundation, concealer, highlighter, and setting powder. A few years ago, Beyonce featured this brand on her website and for good reason because the colors of their eyeshadows and lipsticks are TO DIE FOR.
